The 5th Avenue location was established in 1888 and it has been open 24 hours a day, seven days a week since World War I.

For decades , Neergaard of 5th Avenue was just about the only pharmacy in the borough open 24 hours. The Neergaard pharmacy on 5th Avenue has three levels. There is the surgical showroom on the lower level that contains equipment such as scooters, wheelchairs, walkers, oxygen equipment, lift chairs, hospital beds, bathroom safety items such as grab bars, stools, chairs, mats, hand-held showers; and so many other healthcare products. You'll also find necessities such as therapeutic shoes, canes, breast-feeding accessories, including bras and pumps, diabetes testing equipment, support stockings and so much more.
The second floor is a fun-filled place, stocked with a variety of games, puzzles, educational toys, arts and crafts, ride-on vehicles and stuffed animals. Browse from the endless array, and when you make your selections, Neergaard Pharmacy will even wrap your purchases for you. This same convenience applies to purchases made in the cosmetics department. Choose from among the many skin care and fragrance gift sets, and leave with packages that are ready to present as get well gifts, birthday presents, or for any other special occasions. Name brands they have on hand include Lancome, Clinique, Clarins, Elizabeth Arden, Ahava, Crabtree & Evelyn, Thymes, Weleda, Kneipp, Bronnley of London and Caswell Massey just to name a few. As greeting cards are also sold on premise, Neergaard is a one-stop shop.
When you've been a part of the community as long as Neergaard, you're involved in a lot more than selling pharmaceutical items.
